Highlights
- Remote Control is now available for live operators. Start a secure session from the desktop app, pair from a phone or tablet, approve access, and control service-critical workflows without standing at the desktop machine.
- The remote surface supports Bible browsing, direct scripture reference entry, detected scripture controls, context or idea search, lyrics navigation, lyrics mode selection, and the global auto-present toggle.
- Trusted remote devices can be remembered for the active user so approved devices can reconnect more smoothly during the same operating environment.
- Remote session preferences were added so teams can start remote mode automatically when the app opens and send session details to the signed-in user by email.
- Remote Control is now easier to find from the desktop shell, including the macOS menu, profile area, settings, docs, and public feature pages.
- The landing page visuals were refined with cleaner product mockups, better skeleton placeholders, more focused feature compositions, and a polished Remote Control showcase.
Improvements
- Added a dedicated Remote Control modal with enable/stop actions, session code, QR entry point, pairing requests, connected remotes, trusted-device approval, startup preference, and email-session action.
- Added a mobile-first remote web experience with compact tabs for Bible, Detected, Ideas, and Lyrics.
- Improved the remote Bible flow so users can filter books first, select a book, filter chapters, then filter or select verses without scrolling through an overwhelming list.
- Added support for entering full scripture references in the remote Bible search field and sending the parsed scripture directly.
- Expanded the remote lyrics flow so operators can search the lyrics library, select a song, mount it, and then control line, section, or trail presentation modes.
- Added detected-list clearing from the remote so operators can reset the active detection queue when needed.
- Added Remote Control documentation covering pairing, trusted remotes, startup/email preferences, supported controls, and troubleshooting.
- Updated the public feature set to include Remote Control and refreshed feature visuals so skeleton content is used only where it supports the design.
Fixes
- Fixed remote pairing authorization so authenticated desktop sessions can register correctly with the remote relay.
- Fixed remote connection churn that could cause the desktop to flip rapidly between connected and disconnected states.
- Fixed remote refresh behavior by supporting trusted-device reconnection instead of forcing a full reapproval flow every time.
- Fixed a desktop crash when trusting a remote device failed by surfacing the failure safely instead of letting the command exception escape.
- Fixed several remote Bible and lyrics UI flows so focus, filtering, selection, and mounted content behave more predictably.
- Fixed Help tab diagnostics toggle placement so the control aligns with its setting label instead of floating beside long explanatory copy.
Known issues
- Remote Control requires network access to the cloud relay and a signed-in desktop session.
- Remote state is live-session based. If the desktop app exits, disables remote mode, or loses its session, connected remotes must reconnect.
- Emailing session details depends on the account email and mail delivery availability.
Notes
- This release focuses on making VerseRelay practical to operate from anywhere in the room while keeping the desktop app authoritative for scripture, lyrics, stage output, and live state.
- Trusted remotes are designed for convenience during active ministry workflows, but desktop approval and session control remain the safety boundary.
